Kelly D. Edwards

I am a quantitative methodologist with a research focus on educational and psychological measurement, assessment, and evaluation. I currently work at the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP), where I help develop innovative assessment solutions that are informed by high quality research and meet the evolving and diverse needs of today’s pediatric workforce.

My recent methodological research has focused on Bayesian latent variable modeling with clustered data structures, model assessment and selection techniques, and the use of power prior distributions for leveraging multiple external data sources. In addition, some of my collaborative work has included applications of advanced quantitative methodologies to content areas in education and psychology such as child and adolescent development, organizational climate, and human-computer interaction. I am also interested in understanding how the design and interpretation of large-scale surveys and assessments impact policy, as well as how organizations use data at scale.

Prior to joining the ABP, I served as a postdoctoral research associate in the Center for Advanced Study of Teaching and Learning (CASTL) at the University of Virginia.
